Tam diu minime visu! - Long time, no see!

Credit this picture to Danice Abril (9C)

Like the title of this blog.... LONG TIME NO SEE.
You guys better be reading this blog, because it will be a waste of my time if no one reads it. This blog is also dedicated to Ms. Colleu. She needs to be update with everything...

Okay, so what we have been talking about for the past two weeks.
  • First, the exhibition is coming up. It is going to be on June 3rd, on a Thursday. Hopefully this exhibition would last for a week or so, until the presentation day :) It is going to be awesome. Theme: Colors (one of the most genius idea god decided to give upon the humans)
  • SILENT AUCTIOn: Shhhh, don't telll the whole universe about it. What is it? It is simply auctioning without the whole banging and stuff. We put a picture up in a wall in our school (in this case, a special surprise), only revealed in the next meeting... You guys will be hyped!
  • FREE DRESS DAY: I already wrote a proposal to Mr. Nilsson, I need to go to talk to him. Hope this day comes true. The day also raise awareness on those who are blind. I think we will have activities during that day, like trying to survive a maze... blindfolded.
  • Oh, and the CAS hour is coming out. All of you guys will be shocked to see how many CAS hour I am giving.
So, that is pretty much it my photographers :)

Je suis désole... Je vous mettrai à jour avec tout!

Sorry you guys. I have not been blogging for a while. Too busy with school work, right guys? Anyways, here is some update in the meetings from the past week...

Minutes 21/4/10
  • BAKE SALE WAS A SUCCESS!!! We were able to raise enough money for the flickr account, and also for the blind children.
  • We decided that we will gather all of the money to help blind children, BY THE END OF THE YEAR! We would give them a larger amount of KA-CHING so they could be satisfied.
  • Settled our slogan, "If we can't see, why not help those who can't."
  • Exhibition theme: COLORS
  • Orphanage pictures: Bring a USB to Billy and he will give you all of the pic (Thanks Howard)
  • NEW CAMERA: Canon digital IXUS 130!! (150~250 USD)
  • People taking pics for Oliver: Hai Dang, Ngan, Natasha and Minh
  • We had a debate about school file photo, or online.. WE DECIDED ONLINE :)
  • More exhibition info:
  1. 4 different categories: vivid, black and white, vintage, and photoshopped.
  2. Half of the bake sale money goes to FLICKm the other alf goes to printing the picz for the exhibition (thank you J.)
  • People who still need their portraits: Hai Dang, Minh, Jamie, Catherine Brown, Natasha, Ngan, Yun Soo, and Jin Won.
  • One contributor from our PIC group came up with an... AWESOME IDEA! We should set up a booth @ the exhibition selling customizable things. T-shirt with pic, cups with pics, ruler with pics, etc. It is cheap so we can share half the money into paying for the things, and the other to charity.
  • If there is extra money left from the exhibition, it shall go to our own account.
  • The same contributor from PIC said we can have free dress day. Theme= Colors. Price 10, 000 VND...
So, if you guys have question, don't be afraid to ask me. My email: billylam@ishcmc.edu.vn

Either Bohemian or Dress In Something Suitable

So you guys must have known the answer to the title for todays's blog. Bohemians!
I'm kidding.. It was dress in whatever you want, but must have one thing in common, all photographer in the picture must hold their camera. The outfit can express who they are. TM is the photoshoot. We will do it privately so no one can make fun of us. It is going to be great! And practice your smiles, some looks really crooked... And the camera lens would not put three extra kilos on you...

So, to those who did not come to the meeting, then there are a few things we need to update on... And please, come to the meeting next time, I don't want to cut you guys out.

Minutes
7/4/10 (By far the best meeting ever)

"If we can see, then help those who can't see"
4. New camera update:

As time come and past, we begin to loose the ones we cherish..

So far so great for photography club.. Everyone is having fun. I think... They must be really annoyed by me for being so bossy. Sorry... D:

But unfortunately, 2 members of our group decided to leave us. We did not "kick them out". It was their decision to leave. Sorry Zo Shih and Van Anh... >_<>
Back to the "minutes". Merci beaucoup Stella et Ms. Favret for the minutes... And here it is:

Photography Club Minutes

17 March 2010

  • Bake Sale April 8th
  • Flicker Account info: Photographyincommunity@yahoo.com
        • Password: ruletheschool
  • Portrait Shots - Deadline to sign up is this Friday
  • Club Rules – Cannot miss more than one meeting, must honor commitments and participate fully to get CS/CAS credit.
  • Future Meetings:
    • 31 March – Discussing Bake Sale ( Sign up), Design Advertisements
    • 7 April – Finalize Bake Sale Preparations

BAKE SALE is on the 8th of April. We will sell our goods at recess. If there is any leftover, then we sell the rest at lunch time.
Tom if you are reading this. I already got you all the information here.
Oh and by the way... Tom is our poster designer. She made the wonderful advertising posters for the debut of photography club! Now... Many may question me "Why Bake Sale?" We are raising the money for our flickr account. The thing is, the account is free in the first place, but if you want to upload more than 200 photos in one album, then you have to pay a fee. The fee is around $47.99... This goes on for two years. If there is leftover money made from the bake sale, then we use that money to decorate our board, or buy some photography supplies.

FLICKR ACCOUNT is avaliable for you guys to use now. I already gave you the account. You can only upload 200 photos per album because of financial issues :3

PORTRAIT PHOTO style is going to look something like this. I found it on lookbook.nu. As you can see, it is the big fat photo on top of this blog. I wanted for group photo to be something like this because it looks strange, and advertising like. The girl who took this photo, and models for it (I think) is from Denmark. If you want to check out more photos of her, visit lookbook.nu and search for Camille K.

SIGNING UP for the portrait photo will be on the photography board tomorrow. Since some people are busy after school on different days, we will split up the times for you guys.

Raising Money and Pictures for Gala Concert Practice

I know everyone is excited for the photos for Gala Concert Practice... I know I am :D
Here is the link to the Gala Concert Practice: http://www.flickr.com/photos/47693670@N04/sets/72157623623816482/
Everyone posed really well for the pictures (a secret talent all student of ISHCMC posses). If any of you guys want to photoshop it or edit, then go ahead. Save the picture into your file though...
Oh, and there is a bake sale coming up very soon.
Or if you don't want this activity to be our money raiser, then come up with more ideas. Store it in your brain and bring it to the meetings.
Oh, and the 40 Hour Famine images (Thank you Trung) will go onto our flickr page as soon as I upload it.

I NEED MINUTES ?!@#$%

Okay, so you guys can see me panicking in the title of this blog. Anyways, I need minutes!!! I need people writing minutes!

Job Description: A person who writes down what goes on in a meeting.

You guys will take turn doing the minutes. It is quick and simple! It is not torture, right Stella? I am denifately sure it will be fun! Here is an example.

Photography Club
Minutes 03/03/10

Forty Hour Famine 05/03/10: (Yun Soo, Danice, Ngan) – capture the starving students’ expressions

Habitat for Humanity: Catherine Ha is to take photographs of April 2nd fieldtrip

Art Exhibition 10/03/10 – (Natasha, Ngan, Jimmy, Stella, Dong Won,)

Field Trip – to Aperture Photo Exhibition Saturday 06/03/10 at 6:00 PM – meeting at Sushi Bar (MF to put in Daily Bulletin)

Exhibition – Decisions still to be made
i. Possibility of donating to the blind
ii. Club favors external exhibition at Thao Dien Village
Next meeting 10/03/10 – Forty Hour Famine photographers need to bring photos on USB to discuss. Also Billy will provide website password.

Billy demonstrated how to take group photos
-Try to create a 3-D feeling
-Need to capture both art and people
-Can do this through rule of thirds and establishing focal points
-Remember we analyze a photo from bottom to top
i. Photo should lead you somewhere (up to the subject)
-Keep people close together (like family not strangers)

Thank you Ms. Favret for doing this for us :3
Its not that bad. You just need to take notes, or type it up, and send it to me. It is important we should do this because "some of us" may "not attend" the meeting. So by accessing this blog, they will be updated on what is going on in our meetings. I hope you guys enjoy this job. We will further on discuss about this job in our next meeting.

Anyways, portrait photos is coming up, and we also need plans for the photo exhibition. Come up with tons of idea, many of them can be useful.

About a week ago, I talk about half naked portrait, only from shoulder and up :)) But many seems offended. Please, come up with good ideas for us to use!
